How to Correct Your NIN Name Online
If you need to correct your NIN (National Identification Number) name online, follow these simple steps:
- Visit NIMC’s Website Go to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) website by clicking on this link: NIMC Website.
- Log In to Your Account Once on the website, find the “My Profile” button and click on it. Log in to your NIMC account.
- Access Data Modification After logging in, you’ll find various options. Click on the “Data Modification” tab.
- Choose the Appropriate Modification Option Under “Data Modification,” select the option that corresponds to changing your name. It’s important to note that you can change any field other than your date of birth (DOB).
- Provide Your NIN and New Name Fill in your NIN and enter the new name that you wish to replace your current name with.
- Upload Supporting Documents To support your name change, you’ll need to upload a relevant document. This document could be a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court affidavit, or newspaper publication that proves the legitimacy of the name change.
- Payment of Required Fee Pay the processing fee for the name change, which is N500. You can make this payment online using a debit or credit card.
- Submit Your Request After completing the above steps, click on the “Submit” button to send your name change request to NIMC.
Important Note
Keep in mind that you can only correct your NIN name online if you’ve previously registered for NIN and have an active NIMC account. If you haven’t registered for NIN yet, you’ll first need to visit a NIMC enrollment center to complete the initial registration. Once you’ve registered, you can then follow the online process mentioned above to correct your name.
