NYSC Allowance For Medical Doctors, Nurses and Others: An Insightful Guide
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who studied medical-related courses and are currently serving in the health field are often compensated differently from their fellow corps members.
This post explores the NYSC allowance for medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and others.
Uniform NYSC Allowance Across All States
It’s essential to note that the NYSC allowance is the same across all states, and every corps member, regardless of their specialty, receives the same amount.
The current allowance for all corps members is N33,000 monthly.
This sum is paid directly by the Federal Government, through the NYSC.
However, corps members’ Place of Primary Assignments (PPA) and their state of deployment often provide an additional stipend.
This allowance is variable, depending on several factors.
Please note: Any other sum corps members receive either from their PPA or state is entirely separate from the federal allowance.
Higher Pay for Medical Corps Members
Corps members serving in the medical field, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, often enjoy a higher stipend than other members.
The reason for this is due to the demanding nature of their work and the associated risks. These members are often exposed to deadly diseases and work longer hours.
