Initiatives Aimed at Curbing Gender-Based Street Harassment

About the Author: Hannah Reilly is a Government major at Claremont McKenna College in California. She is interested in the topics of equal rights, criminal justice, and international issues. Additionally, she is enthusiastic about traveling, being immersed in different cultures, and stepping outside of her comfort zone, which is she chose to spend the summer in Montreal interning at WICI.

During her time at WICI, she developed a detailed literature review of various anti-street harassment initiatives. She then wrote a research paper on the challenges and lessons learned of each project. Some of her other responsibilities at WICI included translating research findings and the website from English to Spanish.  The skills that Hannah learned in terms of planning and executing independent research and the subject of anti-street harassment specifically are relevant to her major, government, and her interest in public policies on citizen security, criminal justice, and social inclusion.
